ли лэй (1965)
Li Lei is a Chinese abstractionist painter and executive director of the Shanghai Art Museum.
From the age of 10, Lei was already exhibiting, and at the age of 25 he participated in the Fifth Tai Wan International Biennial of Printmaking at the Taipei Museum of Fine Arts. From that moment, his success in art began.
His paintings are often a parallel world created by simple lines and colors that draw inspiration from the natural dance of signs and symbols. Li Lei creates a new genre of painting by using unconventional tools instead of the brush. His famous series include: "Emperor Sacrifices a Flower", "Remembered Changnan", "Military Image", "Drunken Lake", etc.
In 2005, Li Lei became the Executive Director of Shanghai Art Museum and Executive Vice President of Shanghai Oil Painting Sculpture Court.
